The Book entitled,
ANAND SAROVAR, BIOGRAPHY OF SANT BABA NAND SINGH written by Bhagat Singh, Session Judge (Retd. ) in five volumes in English translated from the original in Punjabi (Gurmukhi Script) embodies the highest spiritual ideals preached and practised by Sant Baba Nand Singh Ji
of Nanaksar in Ludhiana district of Punjab State of India. Babaji left his body in 1943 at the age
of 72. Bhagat Singh, his biographer has been close with him often enough to record the many incidents as an eye-witness but where he was not present in person, his "Judicial" sense helped him to verify the evidence coming from various sources. Babaji had lakhs of devotees, some
of whom still alive, vouch for the amazing incidents from his life, his unbelievable miracles and his huge congregations of rich and poor, Maharajas of Princely States and the commoners -all spellbound by his discourses.
Many foreigners and innumerable Indians, not knowing Punjabi, who have heard about the Saint, have shown keen interest
of knowing more and more about the life and teachings of Babaji. But, unfortunately, for want of sufficient literature about him in the English Language, their thirst has largely remained unquenched. It is to meet this strongly felt need that, as a First Task of the Mission the English translation
of Babaji's Biography has been published in five volumes with the sincerest hope that its reading will help in the spiritual transformation of the readers in India and abroad.

The core or the central theme of the book is as aptly summed up in the PREFACE by Mrs.
M.K. Gill, Principal, Mata Sundri College New Delhi, in the
following words:
" The book is qf singular significance as it is dedicated to the accomplishments of True
Guru. This book revolves around the Guru and resolves that the true Guru is the
liberator of soul, as cure-all of diseases, as washer of sins, as the unique
taste-giver, as destroyer of fear and ego, as dispeller of Kalyug and as the guide. The various dispositions of the
true Guru are the focal point of the experiences as well of the book. Thus the book in your
hands in this context occupies a very high status in the domain of religious
experience. "
The author and the publishers of this book are the same who, recently, published the book titled
"Anand Sarovar Biography of Baba Nand Singh ji" in five volumes in
English by translating the original text in Punjabi (gurmukhi script) written by Bhagat Singh,
session judge (retd.). This book on the saint's biography was selected by Raja Rammohun Roy Library Foundation, Kolkata (an
institution established by the deptt. of Culture, Govt. of India) for distribution to all the central and state libraries in India through the medium of which thousands of readers are already benefiting. Hopefully this
book too should leave cosmic effect on the minds of readers, on their path to spiritual progress

The "thoughts" included in this Anthology "not only embrace a wide
range of subjects but are also by themselves, further "thought -provoking" Even
though there are repetitions, at places, of the same "thought", yet the differing expressions make the
'thoughts' look as refreshing as if they were new ones The examples of
such thoughts are vividly observed under such headings as " God and Faith - related
thoughts" ; Naarn-related thoughts" Death -related thoughts" Saints
and Seers" ; True Guru" Soul and Body; Ego; Humility; The Giver; The Doer etc etc
Readers subjected to sample studies before the release of this Book have
vouched for the cosmic effect of these thought not only on their spiritual upliftment but, more importantly. in
their spontaneous determination to "act" on the selected thoughts that appealed to each soul the most.
Of the 501 thoughts included in this Anthology , the opening thought that asks readers to"
THINK" and the closing thought that asks them to "ACT" makes the entire exercise of selection, compilation editing
and finally publishing these "sacred thoughts" into a Book form, make it indeed rewarding to
the anonymous author and his publishers

Short Story of

ABOUT THE BOOK:
It is natural for readers to know an authentic, even though short, story of Guru Nanak : his life, his teachings, philosophy and spiritual ideals. It is with this in mind, this short story
of Guru Nanak has been brought out by the Mission.
Before attempting to write, the Mission went through a number of existing English writings on the subject and found the most authentic, short and also the best "easy-to-read" narration in the chapter on "THE STORY OF THE SIKH GURUS" included in the Book "Sri Guru Granth Sahib" (English Version) (Volume I) translated and annotated by Dr. Gopal
Singh. Instead of re-writing the story of Guru Nanak, the Mission at once decided to reproduce "verbatim" the relevant pages from this classical work
of Dr. Gopal Singh to whom we humbly acknowledge our gratitude.
The incidents and events from the life and teachings of GURU NANAK included in this "SHORT' STORY are but a few only. There are many many more of such happenings, showing glimpses into the spiritual wisdom of the great Guru. For this, interested readers may turn to voluminous biographies of Guru Nanak, written and published in several English and vernacular languages.

About the Book
The continuous non-stop recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib- day and
night-without break, for 48 hours, through ratational changes of six
reciters;each reciting for 2 times in 24 hours, resulting in the completion
of recitation of the Granth is known as conventional "AKHAND PAATH". The non
continuous recitation with breaks, lasting a longer period of time(say one
month) by self or jointly by family-mambers or through paid professional
reciter leading to the completion of recitation of the holy granth is known
as OPEN "AKHAND PAATH".As the recitation of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, according
to strict rules,is not only a rigorous exercisebut also expensive one.
Sant Baba Nand Singh prescribed five alternative routs through which the
devotees could get all those blessings that flow the traditional performance
of Akhand Paath. These five routs are through the chanting
of:(i)Gurumantar(ii)Mool Mantar(iii)Mala Mantar(iv)Sukhmani Marg and(v)Naam
Marg. For the readers, who do not know the Gurumukhi Script of the original
text of these mantras and margs, these have been provided in Roman Script
along with their English translations in the Annexures at the end of the
book.
